New CoD:WaW Map pack

Post by WorldDomoNation » April 30th, 2009, 10:32 pm

They just announced a new map pack today for CoD5, because that will definitely make me play that game again.

http://www.callofduty.com/intel/217

I don't know about you guys, but I don't even have the first one, i see no point because I never play anymore.

So, have fun damsel! You'll be playing them by yourself!
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P
-Soviet
Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)

Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs
-Soviet
Discussing Marshall's new camera lol^

If only IW would take the same course of action.

If you want my honest opinion, Treyarch are proving to be a better company at the moment.
Take that from an unbiased view. I play neither game but from my point of view, IW seems to be nothing creative to keep their current game alive.

IW may be a small company, but they can still have a few people work on a patch every other month I would expect.

off topic: I wish there were still decent servers for cod2 in the US :<.

I think from IW's perspective they aren't really losing many players. Their idea is to make a good game with massive replayability, whereas Treyarch makes a mediocre game (at best) and keeps releasing content to keep their player base remotely interested. I got tired of WaW in about 3 weeks, however I still play CoD4 occasionally.

Yeah, i was gunna say that. If only IW could release content and patches as often as Treyarch! They only released 4 maps for CoD4 for the entire duration that the games been out, and Treyarch's released 2 map-packs in about the time IW released one!

IW are far from being a small company, they have roughly 100-200 developers working there. They started small however.
Treyarch has roughly (last announcement) between 200-500 (a large gap for an estimate).

IW worked on ONE title in the last year (100:1 - 200:1)
Treyarch worked on THREE titles last year (200:3 - 500:3)

So, roughly we are talking similar team sizes. Why IW are doing less to promote their community relation and customer service is something only they know, maybe they honestly think their game is that good >.>

---

Game statistics: (HLSW)
CoD4 Servers: (Active) 1157 : 15794 (Total) 13%
WaW Servers: (Active) 232 : 3342 (Total) 14%

CoD4 > WaW on account of population.
I guess their feelings must be "Don't fix what is only partially broken".

Well, I think its because, cod4 was a new game, totaly new gameplay ( perk and stuff ) and codwaw was pretty much the same, but they didnt improve graphics enough, not enough new perk, not enough new gameplays, not enough army choice imo, custom weapon ye, but still no custom guy, etc etc

there wasnt anything new in it, so even if it was a fun game, nothing new, so people didnt really care a lot about it. However, when cod4 was out, everything was new, so everyone wanted to buy it.

but well, i still like it and i believe its a funny game.

The reason it is doing better is current trends.

WW2 shooters have died in popularity Since CoD2. It was a dying genre and modern warfare was the new thing.
It is a fact that the US population prefer Modern over WW2 and the the UK has slowly started preferring modern (although UK have obviously loved their WW2 for a while)
