New to strafe jumping, some questions....
Hello,
New to this whole strafe jumping thing and I have some quick questions/comments.
I installed the jumpscript.zip files.
Read the tutorial by De$tiny, but I wasn't able to figure out the process,
BUT
I did download the mp_jump map and ran it in UO,
and just messin around I found that I could make the first round of jumps - ie two boxes, to ledges on side of bldg then onto roof and just able to jump from the roof to the next bldg with the 2 ladders on the side.
If I got this far, am I actually strafe jumping? Is it possible to make these jumps without strafe jumping?
The technique I am using is that I aim for the point I am jumping to, then move forward (w key) and sprint (alt key), right before I jump, I release the sprint key and jump (spacebar key) [it has to be a fluid motion]. I don't have to twist or turn or anything, and it is easier if you take your one hand off the mouse and dedicate that to the jump function
Comments appreciated!

lol UO = easy but then again i can do some jumps that are supposedly UO only with CoD (using a nade) i.e. mp_stanjel
which i have found the way out for both versions of the map :p
mp_uo_stanjel i descovered the way out in late december just after braking my arm
mp_stanjel i descovered on monday when i nade jumped the same jump

Strafe jumping is both CoD and UO. A normal sprint jump is around a strafe jump in CoD. If you combine a strafe jump and sprint jump you do a very large strafe jump. Bigger then a sprint jump so the sprint option is another way of jumping further then normal.keithwwalker wrote:so you guys are saying that strafe jumping is not for UO, just COD; and it seems that it replicates the sprint in at least the end result....unless you can jump farther and higher with a strafe jump?

hehehe
hehehe well its always slightly diffrent but then again thats about a pretty simple comparison
i will make a Propper comparison sometime soon :p
Code: Select all
UO COD Radient
Forward Sprint Jump = Average Strafe Jump = (212px)
Sprint Strafe Sprint Jump = Average Strafe + Nade boost = (265px)
Perfect Sprint Jump = Perfect Strafe Jump = (255px)
Perfect Strafe Sprint Jump = Perfect Strafe + Nade boost = (270px + "could be as far as 350px but that would depend and i havent had chance to test it)

lol
im making a map with jumps in incriments of 2px so ill test it out with destiny when its finished :p
starts at 212px and goes upto around 320px (currently ive got it upto 270px lol so i guess its only another 25 jumps to add till its complete (and if we manage over 320px ill have to extend it further :p)
