I'd just like to clarify with everyone something about CoD4. Unfortunately, with CoD4, Infinity Ward has decided to place all game files excluding textures and some sounds into .ff files, or fast files. These fast files put the normal files into the form in which they exist in the game. This allows the game to simply copy what it needs into the game, without the need for compiling. This allows the game to run much smoother than normal, if it wasn't for these files, it would take the game as much as 5 minutes to load maps on even the most high end of machines.
Unfortunately, along with this nice innovation comes the fact that all game files are compiled. So, until Infinity Ward releases the Mod Tools, we will have very limited source files to work with and generate mods. Some people are trying to work on an answer, but it is fairly widely accepted that that possibility is pretty much impossible. So, without these files we simply have what is generated in the console, and thus log files, to work with.
Several people have been working on getting all the .gscs, and the modding community has gotten quite a few. However, we are still seriously limited. I do not, however, doubt Drofder's amazingness, so we might still see a save mod/nade mod/no kill mod from him before the Mod Tools are released.
