hmmm
1st. When u take a run, you look down all the way and flick up.
You will only trick the game engine if u make a sideways flick.
2nd. You dont seem so use strafebuttons (a or d on my pc). You can get further without using them, but the best strafejump will allways be done with strafebuttons.
3rd. Try taking a run at 90 degrees instead of the 20 degrees u do now

Here is a very short tutorial done in gap training.

Okay, so if I look down, and don't look up, just flick horizontal, keep looking down the whole time? That will work, I just have this thing where I want to see the edge of where I'm jumping from, but then I wann see what I'm jumping too
I am using a/d as well as w, should I just use one or the other?
And by 90, I should basically be looking totally away?
I think I'm trying to mimik what I learned in a tut I got here where it said to run at a curve then flick and jump at the last second...
I'll download the demo you put when I get home from work, thanks for the input
I can make a bunch of jumps on this level, but some of them I just can't seem to grasp
It doesn't seem to be fps related, because I tried first time with really high fps 333, and then I got same results with 100 or so
but again
Thanks for the input, I'm gonna keep trying til I do the whole map in one pass
I want more jump maps for cod2, hopefully those will come, or maybe I could make my own...

dont look down or up, look horizontal and flick at your target. press w as well as a/d. Yes you should be looking totally away

You can look down to see the platform ur standing on, just not all the way down.
What u do is looking straight to the floor... without even a bit looking sideways.

Look down at about 45 degrees...

When you jump, flick your mouse up 90 degrees (so you are now looking up at 45 degrees), then as you descend slowly bring you mouse to look forward again...

So basically, as you are going upwards, you should be looking up (a little, not straight up) and as you come down, slowly look down...

combine this with a good horizontal flick and you will start getting further.

If you want to test what I'm saying out, do this...

stand on a platform, run straight, do not touch strafe or turn your mouse at all, and only look up and down... you will notice you will get further than a normal jump with no mouse movement... then try without flciking upwards and only flick to the side... you will get an improvement...

then combine them, you should notice a considerable improvement...

I think that is what I am doing right now, mostly, I found my jumps get distance more from mouse flick than from strafing
But I don't think I have combined an up and side movement yet, I do find it hard to not look up though when I jump
*Still Practicing*
Wish I didn't have to work, man it cuts into my time too much

Okay, just an update, I have finally made 230, on JM_castle_hard, and I can just touch 231, I'm using the 90 degree jump
i was curious, if anybody changes there look settings? Smooth mouse, or sensitivity?
And I watched AI Caramba's 249 at 125fps, and he does a 190 and jumps, just something that seems obvious, but maybe I'm wrong, the more radians you turn the further you can jump potentially? Is there a limit to this?

Well, im not 100% sure, but I would imagnie the more you turn the more "potential" speed you have (to trick the engine), I jump at about 100-110 when trying to get a record, so basically I run waay from the jump before I turn back.

So it is possibly the case, the more you turn the further you can go. And as for the maximum, I would imagine 180, but tbh, thats a ridiculous degree to have to turn and jump :P

As for your sensitivity, its different for others, and it also is to do with your mouse. Some mice are more sensitive than others (e.g razor) and anything above 4 is impossible to cotrol, I personally use the default sensitivity.

Turning at 180 degrees doesnt make me go further then turning 90 degrees...
Its more consistant on the big gaps, that all.

Yeh, thats because turning 180 is a lot harder to do than turn 90, you cannot move forwards towards the jump and turn 180, its impossible :P

I meant 180 turning is more consistant :)

Well, I have been getting the best response from having my mouse set to 7.15, I'm using a Logitech mx510
I find the lower my setting the more pron I am to vertical movement, which really seems to mess up my distance
but practice is paying off, I just spend 20 minutes here and there on it so I can get the feel right
