Is it possible to make flashing lights, such as the lights you find in disco techs? I want to make it so that the light blinks on and off.

Make a ball with a lot of hole.. make it rotate and put in a 2000 light
I have never try it, but try and tell me if it's working

i dont think its possible to do this very effectively...i've seen some sort of method on modsonline to switch a light on and off but its not perfect

Its sorta possible but it doesnt work that well at all.

Like luke said, it was on Modsonline, but wasnt very good.

inspired by your disco light question, i have started making basic map,
which will have a disco light, which you can turn on/off and rotate across the room.

it has beam like a spotlight, so you can watch it move.

ill post it when i have it fully ready, prob tomoz.

I was wondering this same question before...

I was thinking of having a light, and a moving object going across it, revealing and disguising it, but surely all the lighting is done when compiling so it's not possible for it to change like that?

Yes. Except for the light Leveller is talking about...
(Lighthouse light)

:? :x :cry: D*m F*ck &^%&&*&**&*(&^^

i have been looking and trying for something like the lighthouse effect all morning,
couldnt find it, and the thing i had build didnt work the way i wanted it.

havent tried out the lighthouse from modsonline,
but it looks like its beaming on the picture,
that was my problem, i couldnt get my light to beam.

so i worked the rest of the day on custom textures and shaders,
and came up with my own lighting effect.

the light itself = ready,
the only thing that needs working on, is to make it act like a disco lazer or something like that.

so i need to script the coordinates where the light should point to.

Thanks alot Leveller, even tho I was just wondering if there was a script to turn th light on and off non stop with out haveing to go through any triggers :P But the disco will be pretty sweet.

Right, the light is ready.

its based on a mix between "light_cagelight_red" and "searchlight_large"

i made a custom xmodel based on those 2.

i have put everything thats needed in the pk3 file, also the map file.

if you know your scripting, you wont have any problems with the gsc file.

its prob not perfect, but good enough for a basic demo map.
