what exactly makes your fps drop in maps? and what is the best way to fix it?

lots of things.

Amount of model in view (check Destinys map) it has about 100 health packs
If I remove those packs it will give me 333 fps, without it, only 125.

Other things = Distance (the further you can see, the more things to make your fps drop)

And general bad mapping.

destinys map being cj_training? i dont have a problem with fps on that map, and i dont have a problem with fps on that gay map called leap-of-faith but lots of other ppl said they got bad fps on it, thats got a lot of models tho lol
i made a map that only has about 10 models, and they arent in view when you jump, theyre just for show inside a building, and it only has about 6 health packs...but still i had a complaint that fps went really low in some places

also watch the textures. some make your fps drop such as stone, where as caulk and plain grey make it rise

Get a screen shot of where people are experiencing the lag, then look at that general direction.

Tip.

Make sure EVERY texture the player cannot see is caulked. If not, do it before carrying on.

I've played ur new map. and i have a lot of lag at the watery part.. i think cuz it is pretty real looking and movin water which takes a lot of computer memory..
and i have a lot of lag right after that. cuz ur outside and see a big part of the map, I think that takes a lot of computer memory too. What also appears when you can see a big part of the map.. you can see allmost every other player, oftenly there are naders. Nades make fps drop a lot.

Leveller's maps bitch and son-of-bitch are very good for fps cuz every part of the map is bein stationed in a diffirent room, there is only a small part of map you really see.

I think its something like that.

well i'm virtually rebuilding it atm, coz i realize i didnt make it very well, and after the opinions from leveller and caramba, i've decided to delete about 30% of the map and make it more fps friendly, and do something else with it...so once i got some stuff corrected i'll send it to u drofder :)
