Record Mod

Post by Drofder2004 » September 2nd, 2005, 2:12 am

Well, my clan went awol today (only a few members came on :() So, I ended up looking in to modding.

I took a deep look into Zekes Save Mod (Jump_Aid?) and decided to play about with it.

I ended up creating a timer. The intentions is to use it as a record timer, so ther is no need to count the time after your "record run".
I believe there are a lot more uses to the mod and one off the top of my head is "Clan tactics", e.g You want to time how long it takes to get from A to B. This is a no effort mod, again it was something i decided to create because I was bored, expect a few more of my ideas coming out.

Its a beta, as there are probably a lot of bugs. I also do not know if this can handle more than 1 person at a time, thats why I have posted here. I do not want to "add" anything without the working base first. :)

Future ideas -
- Adding a new part to the hud, where it records your "best" time :)
- Multi-Functions.. e.g Clan Tactics mode and Record Run mode.
- Score Board (Top Records)

- Another mod, this one for the mappers. A measuring tape. Measure from point A to B.

-Other ideas, suggested by you :P

So anyone want to beta it on their server?

And also, I doubt this will work while using the jump-aid mod due to the "press melee" and "use" to start and stop timer.

@ Murphy - Do you have a server it can be tested on, and also I need at least 3 people on the server at the same time just t check if the times do not get confused between players (I have a bad feeling it will, but I think its easily fixed...)

It would help if you all were on TS so you can discuss...

@ Soviet - Ofcourse it can be added to your mod.

---------
More things I will be doing...

- A working jumppad (not a platform, but an actual "gravity boost")!
- Suggestions! (No more comment, more suggestions :P) [I dont care how stupid, if it has a function that may be useful, I will try...]

I am really starting to hate xfire/msn, to much random shit. I hate random conversations, ones with no point, they usually go something aong these lines... Hi... How are you. And then I go offline :P

Anyway, I want suggestions for other things, not improvements (well, improvements as well, but obviously not yet :P)

Get the file here... Download!

To start the mod, it will need to be run on an internet server (i think) and its pretty similar to the save mod. use "+g_recordmod 1".

ok m8, i gave it a quick go, and the problem i see is that it doesnt imediately stop the timer when i press use, i have to hit it a couple times..kinda like with binds, u have to give it a slight gap between using them, if u try to instantly use a bind after another it doesnt work, well for me anyway

I'm thinking of an extra function, whether you can hear people defuse from a certain place or summit

Press and hold works fine...

But, I am going to make this a bindalble command in future (e.g /bind g recordmodon / bnid h recordmodoff)
That way it will work better.

@Koekie - afaik, that style of mod would be near impossible because the mod would have to take into account if there was a building in the way, if so how many.

Although just while typing I have had a small brainwave. If I were to modify the SD settings and make it so once the bomb was planted, it wouldnt stop ticking (at least for 999 seconds) and then have the defuse sound play from the origin of the bomb every 5 seconds.

I am going to set to work with this mod first thing 2moro (hopefully) and if I can, I will even try and get a results chart for carentan (most played map?) - showing the areas where the defuse sound can and cannot be heard :o

^^Sounds like a CoD breakthrough, shame it took 2 years :P

Nah, I think your not understanding what Koekie meant. From what I read, he wants a mod that can aid a clan by finding out where they can camp and can also hear if it being defused.
