Help with Light Grid Volume

Post by Nekoneko » May 27th, 2011, 10:37 am

Hi
I have some weird problem.
Whenever I use the Light Grid Texture to cover my whole map, the player has the rainbow colors.
Now if i dont use the Light Grid Texture, everything is fine, just the colors are a bit different (actually a bit better).
Should I just not use any Light Grid then?

And one more thing.
Compiling the Bsp used to take a few seconds.
Now, once i started a new map, it takes like a couple minutes on 'Building Light Transport for everything', I take it thats normal, but I never had to wait before.

yup.
Also got reflection probes, but wouldnt this be some advantage, since light grid chews up ram.

You only need to place the lightgrid where players can actually be. If you make it too big it can cause errors (depending on the size of your map offc).
Furthermore you need reflection probe's and a main lighsource (the sun or a primary lamp).
Compiling the BSP for my map on "extra" settings takes about 10-15 minutes, and i have a good pc...
If you DONT use the lightgrid you wont be able to add your own lights (read they wont show) and players will look black.

Also make sure that the reflection probes are not overlapping with ANY texture or object.
If you still cant figure it out, add me to xfire and ill see what i can do.

Thanks, but the thing is I have no Light Grid and it's working out fine.
I'll try adding lights and see the result.
