Behind the scenes

Post by Nightmare » May 20th, 2010, 4:48 pm

This post is probably long overdue, but now that I've had some time on my hands, I thought it would be neat to go through and show a couple of my sketches and plans for my maps.
Most of these papers have seen pretty harsh times as I haven't exactly preserved them in the right spot, but they've still survived.

Yes, I am aware my handwriting is terrible, and even worse here as I often just do these at a very quick pace, scribbling down as much as I can before I forget.

If you guys enjoy this, I have tons of other papers that I can scan upon request, the ones below were the best out of the collection.

Yep, I had such planning for mario and lev_facilities too. If you are testing your map and finding bugs - I have to write them down otherwise I fix some but forget the others :P

Indeed, I never manage to remember everything I need to fix if I try without writing any down :P

As for actually planning maps on paper, I used to do it but I don't do it anymore, I tend to go with a general idea and build naturally upon it as I go.

a quality-map should have such notes. Very nice. Too bad i never played one of them cause i started in cod4. I have Cod2 but its so much different to jump there(i have a ghostbind for sprint to feel better lol). Is that a frogger like course in NM_castle?

Do you all make like drawings? I thought most people just start making the map.
