Number Puzzles

I need help solving two impossibly hard number puzzles.

1) Replace the ?'s with numbers.

28(3846)41
52(5978)66
14(????)21

(btw, they are all aligned equally. The question marks just dont space properly since there punctuation)

2)

1=3 6=3 4=4 5=4 10=3 3=x
x^4=?

EDIT: These two puzzles are on the 4th tier of puzzles on breakthegame.se
I've spent countless hours trying to figure them out.
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P

Is no one brave enough to attempt these? :P Cmon, I know at least one of you guys are puzzle lovers! And I'm certain that several of you are math wiz's. If you want some warm up problems, I can give you some of the earlier questions.

guessing random number won't cut it, there are way too many possibilities. these two are so fucking hard! I even asked my teacher (he teaches a 3 year science research course) today and we got nowhere.

you mention the fact "they line up", but are we sure that has anything to do with it?

Maybe we are just looking at 3 series of numbers?

Quite simply put, if x=3, then x^4 = 3^4, but since this is the internet, it's probably not the right answer.
