Bottom bar in CoD4?

the dark to yellow line? That is your xp bar, it shows the xp needed to get to your next level, at 55 it just stays like that.

How was it obvious that it was the XP bar? I only noticed it once I got to rank 55, so it's always been constant for me, therefore I had no reason to assume it had a purpose other than for looks.
