I know there is good intention but what stops me from going inside the mod, rewriting it to say false details (instead of checking my cvars, I just put in fake data). Although the mod is looking good, I still feel like the only real solution is using the console to validate the cvars.
but if someone changes the mod and then creates a demo with it, when a cj member tries to run the demo with that mod won't it give an error saying the mod is different?

That is not how it works on CoD2, although CoD1 will be fine. CoD2 does not require you to have the mod installed to watch the demo.
