AMD x2 4200+ (AM2 socket)
Nvidia GeForce 7900GT
A8N-SLI PCIx16 Deluxe motherboard (AM2 socket)
Powersupply, 500watt is enough
1/2 gig RAM (Cosair)
260gig HDD 7,200RPM

- if this is too expensive, change to this

AMD x2 4200+ (AM2 socket)
Nvidia GeForce 7600GT
A8N-SLI PCIx16 motherboard (AM2 socket)
powersupply, 480watt
1gig RAM (Cosair)
160gig HDD 7,200RPM

Both systems r strong enough to run games like Oblivion etc. CPU is dual-core wich is a very good advantage in rendering video/audio/3d

Both systems can run CoD2 @ 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF DX7 @ 125fps constant.

You can change any hardware, but make sure you have DUAL-core CPU, very important.
I have experience with the first rig, its one hell of a beast, the only diffirence between the 2 rigs is more FPS with the 7900, and faster loading with 2gig RAM.

Luke's rig is fine, you just need to change 7800GT -> 7900GT.

Maybe not the best choice of motherboard that i suggested actually, as it's designed for ATI crossfire rather than SLI..better off going for a DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-D, which is more expensive. But there are cheaper alternatives.

ehm look at benchmarks, the 8800GTX has the double of points in 3d mark (50% faster) then the 7950GX2 and 1950XXX or whatever they call it. The pricetag is high but seriously, this is a fucking monster. LOL i want them in SLI.

I'll wait 6 months til the price has halved..then i might upgrade :P

And rince, i think that's possible for £700, you could go for a cheaper motherboard/hard drive, and maybe just 1gb dual channel kit of ram to bring the cost down, i'll check some more prices.
Ebuyer.co.uk isn't a bad place to get bits for your pc, but you can often find it cheaper on ebay, dunno if you want to use ebay though.
