Models

Post by Soviet » September 23rd, 2006, 2:07 am

I want to add a custom model to my cod1 map, specifically, a cannon (anywhere from civil war to modern). Unfortunately, i dont know if there is a place where there are custom models for download that i might find one. And if not, what is a good application to use to create them, and how hard is it to learn how to use?

As far as I know, there are plugins for 3dsmax, lightray3d, and milkshape for importing/exporting models in cod. There's some tutorials here http://www.iwnation.com/Forums/index.php?showforum=37

I've followed some tuts in maya 6 as I wanted to learn how to make and export models to cod 2. But i dont know how to do the skinning and stuff yet, and haven't found any decent tutorials for cod 2 :x
Wouldn't mind having a go with cod tho, since theres better/more plugins and support for modelling.

Would be surprised if anyone made this model for you Soviet, since modelling doesn't really exist here(noone knows how :P) you could ask at the IW or modsonline forums, but i think it takes a lot of work, which i'd imagine even those who can make models wouldn't do it unless it was for something they are really involved with or want to do.
Alternatively you could make something half decent(probably) out of patches/brushes. It depends how detailed you want it.

There is actually one in UO, I saw it when i was playing mp_wesel. Don't know the model name or if you can use it in cod though, should be able to.
