Imo...

Addiction is a state of mind, if you want to quit, you should simply give up. although I always end up arguing with someone who has an addiction (usually Cigarettes), they say its not as simple as that.

If you do not want to play wow, cnacel your subscription, and dont go back on the website... its as easy as that.
Like I said I play wow, and have not felt 1 bit addicted to the game. I play WoW with my remaining clan mates (we lost about 10 people due to CoD2 clan gaming being lame) and we enjoy sitting back playing it. We did first initally havea gripe with paying a fee, but when you realise you shell out the same amount to own a CoD server and TS, its no different.

It's not that easy.

I played 85 days and I been most of the time in 1 guild with people I know for over a year. It's not easy to simply leave your character which you worked hard for and your new friends. Don't underestimate it ;)

Also, most people are coming back in a matter of time.

Ah, theres more to your addiction than just woW then... A guild of mates.

I have been in my clan for going on 3 years, and yes that is something that is not easy to get away from, and I doubt I ever will, but the game itself is the easy part to "part" from.

I do not under-estimate anything, but everything is achievable when your mind is put to work, (the only things that are not achievable are the impossible, obvious? ;))

I am "addicted" to my PC, but If I want to I could simply walk away and turn it off.

We're in the same situation. I'm in SoE for over 4 years already.

So we noticed :)

There's a difference between playing something because you're addicted and playing something because you enjoy it immensely.

Well, the social aspect of the game kept me playing.

If it wasn't for the chatting I would have already quitted months earlier most likely.

The main reasons I don't want to play WoW and hopefully never will are:

1. I don't want to pay stupid prices at a monthly rate. A one-off payment I might consider.
2. I'm not too keen on the genre.
3. It would take me away from CoD.

The peyments can be paid in a discount lump sum (every 6 months).

Also, the "ridiculous" price determines the way you look at it.
If you are in a clan that asks for everyone to contribute towards server fees then you will understand. some clans have set people who pay for their servers (fools?).

Also, you are paying for a game that has unlimited amount of fun. The are untold amounts of stuff to do, and there are no restrictions.

The genre I can understand sort of, but I can assure you I am not a "fantasy" genre fan, but I have gotten used to it and now quite enjoy the genre.

Taking you away from CoD? I get back to my previous post about addiction. You control yourself, if you take yourself away from CoD to play woW, whos fault is it? ;)

And btw, Peds did you know, coD2 is out? ;)

I wasn't just talking about 'addiction'. The simple fact that I would be spending time playing WoW would mean that I would not have as much time to spend on CoD. Also I would feel obliged to play WoW otherwise I would be wasting my money on it.

I know CoD2 is out, unfortunately this computer can't play it (as you already know) ;) When referring to "CoD" I refer to the whole Call of Duty series, not just the original game.

WARNING! Boring post incoming:

First of all, let me explain something. Just the basics of WoW. When you first start you need to learn your character ofcourse, you get enough time for it to level to 60. (Took me 2.5 months or so (In real life)). After that you upgrade your character with better gear you gain from instances. Those are places you beat with a certain amount of players (5, 10, 20 or 40, the expansion ''The Burning Crusade'' will only have 25 man (raid) instances, 5, 10 and most likely 20 man instances, the 40 man instances which are in the game now will be lowered to 25 man (You get a new level cap of 70)).

At the moment the 40 man instances are the hardest in the game. Blizzard releases a huge patch every 2 months or so. So far there have only been 3 patches with 3 new 40 man instances and a hanfull of 20 man instances which are much easier. For the real 'hardcore' raiders the only fun in the game for them is to beat the end-game content. Believe me, you don't clear an instance with 15+ bosses in a few weeks, it takes months. You need to learn every single boss, every boss requires a different tactic of killing it. People need to find out what they do and learn the encounter and discover a way of killing it. Also, some bosses require better gear which you get from killing 'easier' bosses. And the instance resets once every 7 days.

Blizzard decided to lower the raidcap to 25 players. As you might understand all guilds are build for like 50-60 players so lots of players will be left out and many guilds will break up. That's one of the few reasons I quitted.

End of boring post. You know where to flame me ;)
