when you have time, scan it with spy sweeper, ad aware, or whatever AV program your brother's PC has, and defrag the hard drive(s)

Peds

I get the same problem and it p!sses me off no end. What's more, it used to load in the blink of an eye. I recently reformatted the hard drive, so I doubt that spyware or cluttered drives are the problem. I have always run McAfee and connected with the same cabled router - so that is not the problem. I have 2GB of memory also.

If any of you guys can think of some other way around the problem, or things to try, I would be keen to hear about them. Afraid I am not good on the technical side.

Merry Xmas, y'all

I would suggest disabling everything thats running in the background, including A/V, firewall(disconnect first!), media players, web browsers ect. if that don't work, it might be worth updating your graphics card drivers.

If I find a solution I'll post it here. I'm not too good on the technical side either :(

my cod2 doesn't load at all now, when it did was sooo slow even at the menu's. everything seemed 2 go wrong after installing steam which didn't even work. but cod1 didn't load properly for a while either but thats fixed somehow. is there a cod2 patch out yet? maybe that might help

There is a patch for multi-processor users only (or hyperthreading enabled processors). Other than that, no.
