The thing about the musicians = bullshit.

Nobody goes into a station to listen to music, no matter how beautiful it may be. The underground/subway systems are designed for getting around quickly.

There are many buskers on the London Underground, most of them pretty good, but I have never and never will stop to listen, and few else will.

However, once a guy got ON the train and starting busking in a single carriage. Not only did he get money and a round of applause he also made my journey feel a lot quicker. Although unsure of the legality of it.

Moral - Don't expect people to stop for you, find a place they have no option but to stop.

I wouldn't pay to go and see him perform live, so it doesn't apply to me :P

If someone's performing a genre of music I enjoy and it sounds good then I will stop, but that's never the case.
