The rules were changed for the World Cup, why should they not be changed here?For the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the rules were changed so that any player who received two yellow cards between the beginning of the tournament and the end of the quarterfinal round (instead of the end of the group stage matches) would serve a one-match suspension for the next game.
Although, even still, the problem here is not the use of a loophole but the blatant intention of its use.
I assume you are happy for teams and plaeyrs to continue using diving as a legitamate tactic? -.-

Purposful exploitation of loop-holes should be punished and then the hole filled in.
You should not encourage the use of loopholes, and by punishing the use of them will act as a detterant.
