I don't think "active on the servers" is required, but simply "active on xfire" should be sufficient, if people would use it...

1. you don't make your xfire public, i do know it tough but cba to add you as it seems you only accept CJ team members and close friends (12 friends or something).
2. if you do contact a team member on xfire he joins the server (if you find one that is not to busy) and he waits till he/she does it again and 9/10 it starts after he left again.

Agreed with Infinite, mini admins will solve this as these people will be more active on the servers then the admins are now. The mini admins will only have to worry about the servers which allows them to be more active.

and I don't know any team member who is particularly active on CoD2 these days.

As for me, i don't play CoD2 anymore because i have vista and when i start it i get a black screen for the first 5min and then it starts. Have been looking on google and stuff and apparently it has something to do with vista and there was no solution for it.

Just to clarify my status on xfire and server related. I only have a private list, but I am still in the xfire clans. Also, my activity on XFire is rare. I do not enjoy jumping any more, so sitting on a server keeping it admin'd would be a tiresome waste of time for me.

Admins often come on the server in 'disguise', I have done so many times to get a glimpse at whether the mod is working correctly or not.

Mini-admins is definitly the answer, but trust is not something that is earned easily online and therefore the only real answer is a modded system that does not allow full rcon control. Its is not something that is amazingly hard to integrate as a lot of the key components already exist.

I will put the priority on it up.

You can set up an RCON tool or something like ModernRCON with limited access to the server so example i want KS to have kick only capibilities on the server #5 i would set him up a profile and just email it to him - now he can log in with the rcon tool which does not disclose the rcon password to him but he can now kick people from the server / temp ban etc etc, with no power to change any of the server settings.

Indeed, as part of our agreement with server donators, we agree not to give RCON out to anybody other than the CJ Team, who we know we can trust. Simply giving RCON out to a larger group of people who we may not know as well has its potential risks, so unless Drofder (or anybody else for that matter) can work out a way of allowing others to kick without having RCON, then there's not much we can do really.

On a side note, I've just potentially come up with an idea to solve this. With the current voting system, we have it set up so that promoted players are able to force votes to yes/no, would it not be possible to have another GUID line in the config (similar to the admin GUID line, except for people who are allowed to kick players) which enables those players to see a separate section of the quickchat menu entitled "Admin" (or something similar), and they can effectively kick players through that (perhaps through the use of it creating a kick vote which automatically passes).

I don't think it's that big a deal enough to justify recruiting another CJ Team member purely to admin the CoD2 servers.

Whenever I'm told that someone is misbehaving, I come into the server undercover. If I then see them misbehaving I'll give a warning and then eventually a kick or ban.

I do often get asked to kick some1 from a server (usualy when im in a match or sumin, so i get annoyed and ignore them), but i think it would be good to have some sort of "mini admin" as suggested earlier. Umm i cant think :S.

3=admin

Just make the mini admin forever 2, so they can force vote (without rcon).

Could be achieved just doubling the weight of their votes.

It came across as a thought, but not convinced.
The problem with mini-admins is the level of control you give them and how they would abuse this ability.
So, giving them temp/perm ban use is a risk (no kick feature in scripts), so a simple GUID-mini-admin approach is possible but the features would allow for easy abuse.

The weighting system would only work if you gave the admin an exact weight, e.g 0.33, as otherwise the more players in a server, the less effective his vote.

I think it needs to be thought out further.

Isn't it possible that everytime a 'mini-admin' kicks or bans someone that it gets printed somehow with the time ? If it happens too often you know they're abusing it.

Again, this is something I was thinking of doing. It is very easy to print a message to the log, but the log get big, very quick. Also, it means we would still need to monitor it (although, its existance is a deterrant).
We would also need to create a simple log parser, to make scanning it easier, or we would need to do regular server log cleaning. This would then also rely on the server admins doing their part on donated servers.

Event logging is something the CJ mod has never really done, but is really easy to implement.
