i must say i havent yet played SP. I have never played sp on any game i baught. Maybe i should give it a try. For me, SP gets boring as it isnt competitive. I only half like to play multiplayer so u can see how much other people failJDogg wrote:Here's my experience so far, 3 hours into SP, 7 hours of MP. SP is incredible, best so far in the CoD series, IW has always made a great SP experience, I remember my first time playing CoD4 on the ship level, epic. Anyway, SP is amazing. Now moving on to MP, this game could have been an incredible MP game, really intense, great graphics, it's actually really fun. But of course, IW fucked it up, even still, I'd recommend to buy for SP, if not, download it, you really have to play at least the sp.

they sold a lot of copies on MW2 but most on Consoles! And the game has been designed for console and nothing else!

The whole point is it does matter. If you buy it you imply not only to IW but every other company out there that it is okay to produce that quality of product for PC. Not PC gaming as a whole, it just implies eternal screw-over by Activision, possibly Ubisoft, maybe EA, and a few others. We've still got Valve, Blizzard, and maybe one or two more.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
Blizzard and Valve won't, that's for sure.
Blizzard is absolutely dedicated to PC. Not only have they never released a console game, but they spend years perfecting each and every release, they won't change that because some console driven company does something.
Valve was built on the principle of making good games without time constraints. The company is not owned by a bunch of money driven corporate bastards, it's owned by Gabe Newell, who has invested millions into the company not to get more money (he already has more money), but to release good games to gamers. While they release on console, they hardly ever even give DLC support. Not only that, Valve owns Steam, which forces them to continue to invest heavily in PC.

Since people are dumb enough to not believe a few thousand people and to go and buy MW2 themselves to find out that it's shit, maybe the PC community as a whole deserves what is going to happen with future releases of low quality games from other companies.KillerSam wrote:Too late now. Do you think by BUYING it or NOT BUYING IT the future of PC gaming is going to change? JDogg said it all; If people buy it or dont buy it it doesnt matter. Maybe they like the game, ever thought of that?Just because a person is part of a comminuty online is does not mean THEY CANNOT buy a game. Its different to other shit - On a diet you cant do good then shove your face with junkfood, opposite here, we didnt make a pledge not to buy the game. Sure, we signed a petition but Im sure if I signed the petition (which I did) and my pc was half good enough to run it I would sure enough in the end get it despite its downfalls.
Jdogg also mentioned the SP being awesome, whats wrong in buying it just for the SP? It isnt a low 'standard' - its very high if you actually took the time to look behind the facts and at the actual product.
noone would play the game on xbox 360 or ps3 if it was that bad, jesus christ, your acting like its a fucken virus.
EDIT; just as a aside note I think we all know codjuumper was going down from cod 4 onwards. (after cod 4, not including although I dont see it as being a particularly 'up' moment for codjumper.) I think it doesnt matter even if cod 6 was all we hoped it would be, this site was still going to go down in the end. I t isnt even used primarily for jumps these days, just as a place to chat - not even aboutcodjumping tbh!

I think he is pointing out that there are some companies who are still dedicated to making PC games with the kinda dedication some of yo guys have of playing them (over consoles). In which point, valve and blizzard are good examples. Always found valves games on the 360 not to have the same precision as the PC.

Do you not understand anything about capitalism? Supply and demand. If a company supplies a product and people demand (aka buy) it, then the company will continue to supply it. So, if a company supplies a lower level product and people continue to buy it, they have achieved more profit for less effort. Since greed is a fundamental part of capitalism, corporations will always be looking for the maximum profit with the least amount of effort. Companies also work off statistics. If one company lowers its quality and generates the same revenue, another company will know they can do the same and will follow suit so as to not fall behind.jimbojetuk wrote:what the fuck is wrong with you?

Another aspect of capitalism is the idea of "follow the leader". There will always be a leading company in whatever area they work, for instance, nVidia leads in the gaming hardware field, Intel leads in general hardware, Sony leads in home entertainment, Walmart leads in retail stores, McDonalds leads in fast food. The list goes on and on. At this point it is essentially indisputable that MW2 (and it's creator IW) lead gaming. Stats like 4.7mil sold in 24 hours and most pre-ordered game in history back that up.
It's simple psychology and economics. It's definitely not insanity, if anything it is common sense. IW just lowered the standard of PC games, either you can indulge them and show other companies it is okay, or provide your opinion regarding the game. Even the people saying the game is okay have their issues with multiplayer. They may not consider it game breaking but they definitely consider it a step backward. Couple that with it being more expensive, and even people who enjoy the game will admit it has taken a few wrong turns. Therefore, in paying for this game you are professing support towards the direction it is heading and the countless companies that will follow suit.
These ideas I've brought up aren't my personal philosophies, they are factual statements regarding capitalism that have been proven time and time again. KS, a few others, and I aren't arguing simple philosophy or that you should stick to your principles, we're arguing the well known facts that tell us what is going to happen because of these PC sales. Patterns repeat themselves, it is their nature. We've just put ourselves into the downward spiral that so many other areas of capitalism have fallen victim to. People become addicted and engrossed, companies lower quality, people can't live without and continue to buy. It is a vicious cycle that will cause complete regression in PC gaming until it finally gets so far that we'll stand up for it.
We just failed to stand up for it at MW2, so it looks like we'll have to wait until MW3 to try and make a stand again. Maybe by that time you'll have learned. In the future, if you're going to debate a point, use rationality not your undying love for a series, it's not only ignorant and annoying, but outright stupid. In conclusion, what the fuck is wrong with you

people can say it has taken a fewng turns but if it has a single player alone that is good enough to warrent the price tag it is fair enough to sell it?

Fair enough. The singleplayer is 8 hours. The game is $60 (£36.18). That's $7.50 (£4.52) an hour. If you think the game is so good that every hour you play it is worth $7.50 (£4.52) then feel free to spend your money.jimbojetuk wrote:people can say it has taken a fewng turns but if it has a single player alone that is good enough to warrent the price tag it is fair enough to sell it?

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Opinions
I rarely play my games for more than 15 hours...
Games such as bioshock are only about 20 hours long and thats a game with NO online at all.
Add in the time to complete spec ops (difinately double figures - ive only got about 10 stars and ive played 1 1/2 hours spec ops) and you will have at least 20 hours of what would be 'GOOD' gameplay? Still not disappointed with that.
Also the game is only £25 or something, in tesco so thats about £1 an hour of gameplay. The same kinda time price/time ive had from left 4 dead, guitar hero (although I think ive had a lot more from this) bioshock, battlefield bad company.

The facts you mentioned are completely true. And if you are willing to sacrafice your potential joy you might have gotten out of this game, I deeply respect you. Let me assume you don't only jump. We could say this game isn't ready for professional play yet. Okay, no problem for all of us, since we wouldn't compete with that anyway. So what remains are pubs and scrims. That is amazing from what I've experienced. So worth it for a lót of people. The professional gaming could very well still be coming, like in CoD4. So what remains, is the group that hate it due to the non-dedicated servers that won't provide an ideal jumpingsituation. Well, if that's the group you wanna make a stand with at CoD8 (CoD7 will be treyarch, vietnam), then you won't succeed becasue you won't be with enough people. And Soviet and Sam, I can fully understand you guys for wanting to boycott it, since CoDJumper is your home. You see CJs life fading away by the release of CoD6. But I think it's not fully realistic to think you can force your will as a jumper. Nevertheless, I understand it.Soviet wrote: Do you not understand anything about capitalism? Supply and demand.
