Wow ok....

Can I safely assume that your both just fanboys?

No, seriously, if what you say is true Helium, (I dont have enough knowledge to say its not, so I will take it as truth) then I am now thinking there isnt a whole lot of difference between the two cards suggested. The reasons suggested for either card do not sound major. I will search around and look for the best deal on both.

The 4870 is most definitely not the most popular card on the market. Nvidia continues to be more popular because of Physx support and a better history of support and performance. I've had ATI in the past as well, and definitely prefer Nvidia. Of course, things may have changed since the last time I bought an ATI card (about a year ago).

"When the HD4870 was new it quickly became the most popular card on the market"

It has been more than a year since it was released so obviously it ain't the most popular card on the market anymore.

May I ask what ATI card you had one year ago?

Don't worry, there are very few stoppable wars on this forum.

I don't remember which one it is. It wasn't for my computer anyway, it was for another computer that is kind of like the secondary gaming computer in my house. Btw, I love how you quote something and fail to put a source :P

Aight.

I don't know what you're trying to say. I quoted myself from an earlier post which you failed to read so I had to repeat it. If you don't even know what card it was and if it was for a 'secondary gaming computer' it was most likely not any of the newer cards so obviously you won't be outperforming GTX 295 x2 with it. :S

How do I post a source to show the popularity of a PC hardware? Who decided if it's the most popular card or not? If you are 'into' PC hardware etc you feel which card is most popular, which card people talk most about and which card the reviewers make very positive reviews about etc.

Of course you can have your own opinion about ATI, but saying that the HD4870 wasn't the most popular card when it came out is a lie. I'm tired of arguing with ignorant people, no matter what you write or say they will always do anything to 'comeback'.

I'm done arguing with you and I will not respond to any of your statements unless they're well-written and unignorant.

Ontopic: It's hard to decide what card to choose by reading the argument of 2 individuals that you don't even know, so I suggest you pick 2-3 cards that you like and are pretty equal in performance (for example the HD4870, GTX 260 etc) and go to google and type HD4870 vs GTX260 to see some reviews and comparisons of the cards and you will get a better view on it.

I will tell you now though that the HD4870 has great support and performance improvements at least once per month. It's also cheaper and better than the GTX260 and will have support for DX11 when it comes out.

The GTX260 is better because it has support for PhysX and Nvidia overall is more supported by game producers. I'm not too sure about the support by Nvidia, maybe Soviet or someone else that uses Nvidia can fill it out for me.

My sources were from a certain Valve customer survey that collected people's hardware data. It was about 4 months ago and the ATI cards were at the bottom of the list. I don't have a link, but that's where my questioning of your statement was coming from.

I also never suggested going with the GTX260, in fact I recommended the GTS250. Let me put this in perspective for you Online_Addict. I have an 8800gt. That is the equivalent of 2 generations behind the GTS250. I can run Call of Duty 4 on max graphics and never drop below ~40fps. At lowest settings I tend to settle around 400-500fps. Going with the GTX260 or 4870 would most likely be overkill because of what you stated you wanted and the stats I've provided.

I suggested the GTS250 because it is a nice mid line card that will not be obsolete for several years and is much more within your budget. I would only recommend going to something like the GTX260 or 4870 if you're looking for something to get 333fps on MW3.

Ok, I'll look at the GTS250 for the moment.

PC vs console doesn't count because the sides are not equivalent. It is blatantly obvious that PC is better.

It took me a while to figure it out, but if PC is as fun to play as it looks, then it will be better than console. I have both xbox and ps3, i like ps3 over xbox, and ps3 is getting boring, same maps, same bunch of people running round with acog m40's, no ability to change fps, no promod.... etc. I dont really feel its an actual argument because basically consoles get owned by PC, so this is why im joining the winning team!

Consoles are pretty good actually. But if you have 2 exact same games on PC and console like CoD4 it's indeed obvious where you get the most fun out of it.

I did actually think about suggesting you go with the 9800gt. It's a good card, the equivalent of 1 generation below the GTS250. It'll save you a good amount of money and you'll still get performance up to par with what you're looking for.
