------------------------------------------------

Wheeeee, I'm back :)

jm_museum is a new map I started to make after I got an idea from a thread somewhere in here. Anyway, it's an attempt to recreate a museum-ish enviroment. The map is suitable for mid-skilled jumpers(220-235) but a hard verson will probably follow.
There will be all new textures(even transparent ones now!), so the texture pack I made some time ago won't be needed FOR THIS PARTICULAR MAP - it will however be needed for other maps that are in the making aswell(but put on hold for a while now).

Some screenies:

Image
- I made a circular staircase! Hooray for me!

Image
- Jumps!

Image
- Entrance!

Image
- Fast compile, shadows suck ><

Image
- Entrance from outside, kinda nice but the shadows are yuck

The lights are randomly placed and overall it looks dark 'cause I just put some random lights and the rooms(+forgot to adjust the intensity ><).

So there you have it, expect more updates in a while(especially rooms with jumps in them). I might even make a youtube vid if I find the time to read some tuts for Sony Vegas. I hope this map will be finished by the end of the school year(end of June max.) but if it takes longer, tough luck. :P

Cheers, rezil

Heh thank you, the whole thing looks much nicer in Radiant but compiling with the 'extra' option ticked takes FOREVER, so I used 'fast' instead.

Thank for the positive feedback guys. :)

Ye I was just lazy there. Rotating every single one of the textures was too time consuming but I'll kepp it in mind when I'm finishing the map up.

Well, I've been working on it on and off for a while now. Since some exams are coming up I hope I'll find time to map on it some more. In any case, you can expect updates in this thread. :)

A small update for you guys:

Progress is coming along nicely. I'm combining granite with wood and there are some pretty nice results so far. Also, I have finally made my own custom glass texture along with some other transparent textures(like the laser in one of the pics) so I'm really proud of that(it's not that big of an achievment but whatever).
The hardest bit is actually finding the right textures for all the rooms(most museums are on the inside all granite/other rocks) and the actual texturing. What you see here is the pre-beta texturing and it will probably change over time as I find other lighting options or new textures.

Cheers and stay tuned!

P.S. : After this map is finished, I might ask someone to convert it to cod4/cod5 if they're willing. They will need to convert the custom textures and sounds also since the last time I tried that it ended in failure(offices for cod4) and ever since that every attempt I made has failed. So if anyone is interested(and is going to keep his/her promise since the release is far away), either post here, PM me or add me on xfire.

P.P.S. : Anyone up for making some models of statues? :)
