This is what is known as an idea which could backfire...

1. Petitions have yet to force IW towards anything (tbh, the CCA thingy barely done much)
2. We have now made the situation worse
3. The worse the situation gets, the more likely the chance of a fix.

A few community members have recently discovered a new CoD4 exploit, this exploit works on all previous patches of the game... this will need to be fixed for patch 1.7.

What does the exploit do?
Basically allows players to turn sv_cheats on, it will be set on for them only, but then they can use any cheat protected dvar.

The only way to prevent this is by adding this line to your pb server config file: (pbsv.cfg found in CoD4/pb folder)

pb_sv_cvar sv_cheats IN 0

Then restart your server, and you would be protected from this exploit.

I won't post how to do the exploit, because there are SO MANY servers that this exploit will work on, and having sv_cheats set to 0 in your server config does NOT prevent it, it needs to be in your PB config.

That's what I've spread as I figure, if IW don't release a new patch, although they probably will as they were working on getting the killcams in 1.6 (but found exploit with that so removed it from 1.6, but may be on the way to getting it out for 1.7) then it's better that server admins are aware of how to prevent the exploit on there server.

As many server admins only know how to control an existing server setup for them, they don't know how to update a pb config etc. (I know it's terrible eh)

I figure IW will react much better if people are openly exploiting on all of their game servers, and people are pissed @ them.

making people aware that there's a possibility they're being cheated on is a good thing imo. will also bring alot of doubt into teams that may of won in various cups etc due to this
