1.6 Patch is Here!

After console owners beating us to the new maps, we finally got the newest patch 1.6 ourselves!

What matters most about this patch is that it contains the 4 new maps we waited for so long!

And the 4 maps are:

- Broadcast (From the SP campaign)
- Creek (Forest themed map)
- Chinatown (Carentan re-make - yey!)
- Killhouse (Training map, same idea as Shipment but twice as big)

Wootage, lets see what else they have done.

Can people also while jumping the new maps confirm the old maps still work :)

I downloaded the patch literally minutes before I left my house to get the train to London. I haven't had time to check the maps for jumps, but on first impressions they all seem very good. The TV Broadcasting one in particular seemed very good to me (even though it's copy/paste from SP0, and I can't wait to play them all when I get back home in under 3 weeks time :)

IMO killhouse blows. It is something a noob mapper would make. It is practically a reflection map (which isn't inherently bad, but in this case it is). It is a giant rectangle, it is one level simplicity, you actually have to walk in the open to get out of spawn, absolutely no flanking, and spawn nades are almost more common than shipment.

Broadcast is okay, good flow but nothing really great in the map design. No real chokepoints or areas of intense and constant action.

Chinatown is excellent, they really did well in giving it an Oriental feel.

And Creek is excellent. Wonderful attention to detail and realistic environment created. Excellent for snipers. Could only be made better with a few more flanking routes and minor roads.

Just me though :P

Broadcast, nice map, think that will be a very enjoyable map too.
Chinatown.. cod1 carentan, brilliant, no further comments.
Creek.. However very nicely made, I doubt it will be a fun map to play.
Killhouse.. Sorta looks like an aim map, seems fun to snipe in.

Broadcast and Chinatown are my favourites.

Creek ain't that great really. It's a camp it out map, and that's not my playstyle. But maybe I have to play it a few more times to learn some good spots and where people like to stay etc.

Broadcast really is great! I love these kind of maps, just like Vacant and Backlot. It's these close quarter maps which I like.
