xmodels
Hi, I've just started mapping and I want to start using some models! I know how to put them in, and I have the xmodel viewer thing But when I try to see them in 3D view they just appear as red boxes.. I see in some tutorials i have to unpack my pak files to set it up? Is this the reason they do not show?
Thanks in advance, Icarus
PS I'm in the IRC till 21.00 (It's 20.00 now where i am)

Select your model, and press n
You will see a box at the bottom which says "keys/values"
Inside that box, there will be a bey and value of...
key: model
value: <model directory>
Probably something along the lines of "C:/program files/.../xmodel/model_name
Change the value to just "xmodel/model_name", remove anything before that.
If this fails to work, click "View<Entities As..."
Then click "skinned".

Ok, well more info would be needed.
Have you extracted your xmodel folders?
Give every piece of detail and it will help, install locations, what you have done, where you have installed to, what instructions are you following. Anything and everything.

You don't need to.
You can do this:µ
1. Go to http://bzflag.free.fr/cod/ and find your model name.
2. Go into radiant, rightclick -> misc -> model
3. Close the browse window
4. In the 2 textboxes under eachother, make a new key called model with the value from the site
5. Press enter, and then n
6. Done!

I am 99% sure, with CoD1, you must have extracted the xmodel files for them to show up in the editor. It will appear in game fine without the extraction, but not in the editor.

I am not sure what the UO model viewer is, but when it comes to third party software, never expect an easy ride, they are more likely to cause problems than doing it manually. Glad you got it sorted.
