Rules

Post by Pedsdude » July 21st, 2007, 6:54 pm

When submitting records, you must abide by the following rules:

» No cheating (runs must be done on /map and not /devmap, g_speed and g_gravity etc. must be default)
» Jump mod is allowed, but a penalty of 5 seconds is incurred for each time you load
» Limit of 250 FPS
» No advertising
» At the beginning of the demo, the user must state the time on the clock that he/she will begin the run
» Grenades are allowed, but not for shortcuts (i.e. if there is a hard jump you can grenade jump it)

Posting your record runs

When creating a new topic for your record run, please use the following format for the topic title:

[<Game>] - [<Map>] - [<Name>] - [<Time>] - [<Penalties>]

Replace:-
- <Game> => CoD1 or CoD2
- <Map> => full map name
- <Name> => Name (Must be same as used in demo)
- <Time> => Your time without penalties added on
- <Penalties> => The amount of loads you used

e.g. [CoD2] - [mp_jump] - [Pedsdude] - [4:38] - [7]

If anyone has any further suggestions or problems with the above rules, then make yourself heard!

I think stating the game name in the title of thread should be used.

I will go through and get some locations of the finish points made up (If I get bored enough I will create a quick mod which will simply print to screen when you have finished the map).

Start/Finishing points are clear on most maps, those that aren't will be brought to our attention when people make attempts / demos.

For maps with various difficulty levels, only the HARDEST difficulty level will count.

I think there should be records for each difficulty. Like jm_castle cod 2.

I propose a new way of dealing with this, and hopefully it isnt too late.

What I would recommend is...

When you are working out the time of your run, to ignore the penalty time and dont add it on.
From now on (if people agree), please format your thread as...

Code: Select all

[<Game>] - [<Map>] - [<Name>] - [<Time>] - [<Penalties>]

Reaplce:-
- <Game> => CoD1 or CoD2
- <Map> => full map name
- <Name> => Name (Must be same as used in demo)
- <Time> => Your time [b]without[/b] penalties added on
- <Penalties> => The amount of loads you used
It will make things easier to work out.

changed some topic names.. hope its good like this..
- <Penalties> => The amount of saves you used
Think this must be: The amount of times u loaded your position.?

Correct, it should be loads. (corrected it in original post)

Yes, there's no mention of grenades. If you use grenades instead of a normal strafe jump you will lose more time anyway so I'd say no penalty (But you do get a penalty if you take a shortcut, or the demo itself will become invalid).

A good example when I have to use a grenade is in jm_state. When you get in the actual building you need to cross some gaps in to the other side of the room, you can go either left or right. At the end you need to get up a ledge and jump trough the middle to the other end, I use a nadejump there because I can't strafe it (I heared it was a 250 FPS jump ?).

If you can follow that example maybe you understand what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I normally change server gravity at that point :lol:

I will amend the rules accordingly.
