Yeah for most of the maps in this list the only reward you get are guns and/or a teleport on top of the map (or somewhere similar)...mp_woodland gives the player a terminator character model which is pretty cool.
If you haven't already try SmrtiBracha's new map mp_ostrov. It isn't really hard at all but it looks good and plays well, very good map imo.

Vartazian wrote:Yes, in most cases i totally agree. It seems like every new map that comes out is either made by someone who has very little skill in jumping AND/OR mapping, OR it is made by someone who thinks they can beat the difficulty of other hard maps. It seems like it has become a contest to create the hardest maps. I wish there were some mappers out there who try to make a map possible to finish in less than an hour or two, and that they create a map to deliver fun, as i try to do :/ Nothing wrong with hard maps, but more of a variety would be nice. Especially from a pro mapper like Rezil or DantheMan :D
I'm thinking of going into CoD4 after I'm done with pier2. I still play around CoD4Radiant every now and again, love the lighting system there.

Ah yes i did forget it, and i would place it exactly at 15th position as well. Also, i added mp_bone. I think the map is more difficult than oblivious by a little bit mostly due to the last bounce.. I updated the list to include top 30 now instead of having 26

I'm just thinking about it. CoD4 has its quirks like the community expecting the jumps to consist of 95% bounces and 5% of everything else.

And besides, pier2 is scheduled to be released around 2016 anyway.

CoD4 has more possibilities than in CoD2 anyway.

I'm too old school for RPGs, so expect a no-RPG script as well. :P

There is a map specific no RPG script already in the CJ mod. ;)

Thought Id make yet another update to this list, since I have played some pretty hard maps recently...

TOP 35 HARDEST *UPDATED*

EXTREME

1 mp_dark_v3 <-----------------------CURRENTLY THE HARDEST MAP released as of October 24th, 2012
2 mp_colour
3 mp_futile
4 mp_awe (advanced) (unfinished)
5 mp_monster
6 mp_mystic_v2
7 mp_nightmare
8 mp_awe (hard) (unfinished)
9 mp_dependence
10 mp_styx_jump
11 mp_three (unfinished)
12 mp_nightmare_v2 (unfinished)
13 mp_mystic
14 mp_dark <------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardest map as of Jan 4, 2012

Advanced

15 mp_dark_v2
16 mp_woodland
17 mp_oerba
18 mp_herba
19 mp_mines_of_moria
20 mp_shade (unfinished)
21 mp_bone
22 mp_devine
23 mp_oblivious_v2
24 mp_space
25 mp_descent
26 mp_futurama
27 mp_pfx_evacuate (unfinished)
28 mp_polar
29 mp_trial_2_p (advanced)
30 mp_to_the_moon_v2 (advanced)
31 mp_madhouse (advanced)
32 mp_nevada
33 mp_to_the_moon (advanced)

Hard

34 mp_destroyed
35 mp_insane <--------------------------------------------------------------- Hardest map as of Sep 14, 2011

As you can see, the progression of new hard maps is pretty insane. What we considered hard in 2011 was nowhere near what we have in 2012. It makes me wonder how hard maps will continue to be in 2013.

Never have and never will understand this 'competition' about making the hardest map. Platform to platform maps can be very hard but i rather see a well designed map, variation of jumps, tested on bottlenecks, etc.

I wouldn't enjoy playing a map where i would spend 10 minutes on a single jump anyway. In my opinion the quality of maps is only decreasing with this 'trend'.
