Finally got CoD4..now for that bounce stuff
Ok, I just got CoD4 and I want to learn how to bounce. (never done any jumps in CoD4 ftm)
I looked and tried the tutorial but I can't seem to make a bounce-jump.
Do I have to hold the strafe key during the strafe-jump and bounce-jump ?
My fps = 125 btw.
Any suggestions/tips would be helpfull.

Just need to be fast enough and hit a surface, that has more than 45 degrees.
Have fun with Cod4

Don't go straight for the pipeline bounce, learn to do a good strafe jump first. Try mp_codjumper_training for gaps. For practicing, it's a good idea to start at a 90 degree angle from where you want to land, about 60 units from the edge. Sprint forward, then hold D(or A for left strafe) and start turning the mouse smoothly to the right(or left) at a fairly fast speed (Watch how fast people turn in jump videos and mimic that). When you reach the end of the starting platform, jump, and keep holding W and D(or A) and you'll need to keep turning, but at a very slow pace. This is called 'air strafing', and if you watch more bounce videos, you can see, after they jump, they keep turning the mouse slowly.
For jumps on straight on an axis of a map, use 125 fps. If you are jumping on a 45 degree angle from an axis, 333 will get you the furthest, and when you're on a angle between 10-40 degrees from an axis, use 250.
EDIT: Also, if you want to test where the map axis are (they aren't always parallel to buildings), switch to 333 fps, jump, and press forward just after you jump. If you move forward easily, you are on an axis. If you jump, press forward and move hardly move at all, you're not on an axis.
Good luck

Re: Finally got CoD4..now for that bounce stuff
I knew strafe-jumping was different compared to CoD2 but not this different.
Damn I'm going to have to start all over again..learning to jump that is
Yep I did watch those clips and still couldn't do it. I only tried it for an hour or two but I figured I did something wrong.youtube .
(P.s. is there a way to give yourself the rocketlauncher, like in CoD2 "give ...." or do I have to use a mod ?)

I thought so. But I was wondering if it was possible without a mod (wanna keep it as clean as possible for future map/mod building)KillerSam wrote:Allow me to introduce you to something called the CoDJumper Mod<LT>YosemiteSam[NL] wrote: (P.s. is there a way to give yourself the rocketlauncher, like in CoD2 "give ...." or do I have to use a mod ?)

But ok, I'll give it a try.
Thx guys.

With map building, levels MUST be tested/played using a mod (usually ModWarfare), so you might aswell use the CJ Mod.<LT>YosemiteSam[NL] wrote:I thought so. You just cant play a user made map without a mod.<LT>YosemiteSam[NL] wrote:Even if it's not a jump map ?Drofder2004 wrote: With map building, levels MUST be tested/played using a mod (usually ModWarfare), so you might aswell use the CJ Mod.

And I suggest you should try the basic of the basic bounces first like i did lol, try the Strike sandbag bounces there almost a guaranteed hit =]

Re: Finally got CoD4..now for that bounce stuff
Ok guys, Please explain to me how to run the CJ mod and the codjumper_training map.
I've tried to get it working for over an hour now. The mod is working but the custom map doesn't load.
I'm missing something here.

Re: Finally got CoD4..now for that bounce stuff
Yep, I tried that but still doesn't work (I'm doing something wrong I guess)
When I start a server it doesn't find the map...so the place of the files isn't ok I think.
I've put the .ff files into the usermaps folder and the .iwd file aswell.
Does the .iwd file go there or does this have to be in the mods or main folder ?

Re: Finally got CoD4..now for that bounce stuff
The two .ff files and the .iwd file should be in a folder called 'mp_codjumper_training', and that folder should be in the usermaps folder.
So the directory should be usermaps/mp_codjumper_training/(.ff and .iwd's here).

Yep I have that set up but still the map doesn't load;
Maybe something is wrong in the way I run the server;
- open CoD4
- Load the codjumper mod
- type in console "g_gametype cj"
- type in console "map mp_codjumper_training"
Don't see what's wrong with this
