I doubt anyone listens to mine (Or most of the others posted but who cares :P) and if you do listen, you probably don't even know them.

Melodic Death Metal is my favourite (Insomnium (Also has Doom and Symphonic influences in a lot of songs), Kalmah, Amon Amarth, Destroy Destroy Destroy, Closer, Arch Enemy, Neaera). One of my fav bands is Melodic Death/Symphonic (Eternal Tears of Sorrow), some Doom bands (Earlier album of Amorphis and Katatonia), but not a lot. And a couple of Metalcore bands although most have become too mainstream, I really love As I Lay Dying but Atreyu for instance has become a bit bad, although their last album is pretty good imo. I even listen to one Melodic Death/Industrial (Death Wave) band called Sybreed, really heavy.

I've got a whole text file on my computer with bands and albums (With the years of release) so I don't forget them. Some are really REALLY underground :P

BEST MELODIC/SYMPHONIC BAND EVER!

As I Lay Dying

None of this matters, none of these words. Common and silent we will die in this world.
Weve only spoken to those who agree, and without them weve fallen on deaf ears.

Stand on conviction and you will walk alone.

For once I have stood (I have stood), no one will know,
but alone I was born and alone we must go.

In my convictions Ive found my own grave, but amongst the dead we all fade away.

Yeah...
Yet solitude is better than a life not worthy of reaction.
There is nothing to lose (nothing). So we stand alone or join those who follow in misery.

In my convictions Ive found my own grave, but amongst the dead we all fade away.
In my convictions Ive found my own grave, but amongst the dead we all fade away.
Fade away...

Stand on conviction and youll walk alone.
A voice is only a noise without someone to hear,
and without a crowd to feed that noise grows silent.

For once I have stood, no one will know, but alone I was born and alone we must go.
Fading back into an anodyne sea, to drown with all whove gone before me.

Yeah... We must go.

In my convictions Ive found my own grave (my own grave),
but amongst the dead we all fade away. Yeah...
In my convictions (convictions), Ive found my own grave,
but amongst the dead we all fade away.

Stand on conviction and youll walk alone. Yeah...
Fading back into an anodyne sea, to drown with all whove gone before me.
Fading back... fading. Fading back into an anodyne sea.
Fading back... fading. Fading back... fading away.
And I also like one Progessive Melodic Death Metal band from The Netherlands :D

Stupid lyrics. If everyone is following the crowd who is defining the behavior of the crowd? Only because people believe and follow this ideology does it exist. Those who actually go against it are the ones who define society, and they are few and far between. All the powerful, influential, and revolutionary people of history went against the crowd and followed their own convictions. So, essentially, this person is suggesting that they don't have that potential and should simply give in to the mundane, dull, and ordinary. All those lyrics say is, "I have self esteem issues but still think I'm smart." In fact, by stating this philosophical idea of following the crowd he is in fact being a hypocrite with regard to his own philosophy. Essentially: shit lyrics with some clever wording to circumvent the obviousness of their valueless idiocy.

Doesn't matter what he says, as long as he gets the pussy. Case-in-point:

You are right, but in most cases he is true. It happens a lot but obviously there's a couple of people out who really did do something.

American band btw  But these guys are Christians and they bring a story into their lyrics.

Amon Amarth for instance is Viking themed with some pretty brutal lyrics and sometimes also sad lyrics. They're usually my favourite. It's awesome to read them sometimes. Some are from years back and really happened. Others are fictional. Although related to reality.

The Beheading of a King:
A mighty fleet came across the strait
But Erik was prepared
Five hundred Germans had come to his aid
On horseback with their spears

The fleet was carrying two thousand men
Eager to draw blood
But as they were about to land
Erik released his heards

One thousand men and five hundred horsemen
Came charging down the beach
When the sea-king saw this force
He gave order to retreat

All obeyed except one ship
It held the king's own son
He despised the thought of flight
And attacked on his own

The Danish fleet had to turn around
They charged King Erik's men
But it was too late to save his son
His life was already spent

The fighting continued bloody and fierce
And the bloodshed was immense
Two thousand warriors died that day
Most of them were Danes

The Danish king was captured
Most of his guards were dead
For a ransom he was released
Then his people took his head

And the one I actually put up above:
I stroke the blade with my hand
the sharp edge cuts the skin
blood drips to the rain wet sand
my journey can begin

Once a slave but now I'm free
my honor is restored
once again I'll ride the seas
free at last from whip and oar

I slide the sword into the sheath
the ocean god is hailed
and as we push out to the sea
we raise the red striped sails

I've missed the breeze of my home shores
the frozen lakes and winter snow
but now my dreams start to unfold
father, I'm coming home

The storm came down without remorse
and water crashed the rails
the ship was thrown back and forth
as strong winds ripped the sails

The icy waves embrace my skin
I am going numb
The endless ocean swallows me
This will be my cold wet tomb

Won't feel the breeze of my home shore
nor see the lakes or winter snow
my hopeful dreams lie ripped and torn
father, I die alone

They have awesome lyrics :D

Also I have a feeling you would like Sybreed if it had clean vocals Soviet.

Meh, I prefer obscure and cryptic lyrics which don't necessarily have a set meaning. White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane is a good example.
