Ok, i am totally new to making maps and stuff. What do i start with? what is a script? what tools do i download?

I read drofdors tutorial but i got lost when he started talking about variables (first paragragh). it would be great if one of you skillful people could help me out so i can share the knowledge with others.

When reading tutorials, bare in mind CoD and CoD2 mapping are basically identical (other than when using custom textures and when you have to compile).

There are plenty of tutorials (some are in fact video tutorials) on http://www.modsonline.com - choose the game on the left (and choose CoD mapping if there aren't any sufficient CoD2 mapping starter tutorials).

modsonline.com always has some really good tutorials and information for new mappers. if u cant find what u need on this site, check modsonline second, it'll most likely be on there
