Graphic Card PCI

Post by MuRpHy* » August 19th, 2005, 3:23 am

ok i have been lookin for graphics cards, and am quite knowledged on them really, but all i have are PCI slots ;( i want to know what is the best card that is for a PCI slot, because all the ones i found are cheap.. Now i realize that any card would be better than the one that i have now (prebuilt dell using the cheapest card they can put in most likely) but which would get me the highest fps, and best perform with my Dell 2400 series... Thanks,

Murphy

I would recommend a Nvidia, as they have the same quality and can be much cheaper than radeon. Also, more new games support Nvidia. I have a nvidia 5200 256mb running on a Dell 2400 system with 1gb of RAM, 2.1ghz processor and i can get 125fps when looking at walls or in slightly lower detailed rooms, so i would say get something slightly better than that.

Do not go lower than the 5900 if you are going Nvidia Series.

I prefer Nvidia to ATI/Radeon gfx cards... I personally find that you get less problems with Nvidia and their drivers.

Murphy, whats your price range?

i no this post is kindof old but are you still in the business because the NVidia GeForce FX5700LE is the best pci card on the market. Also are you sure that a new graphics card is the best possible upgrade? I think u should have at least 1gb of RAM before a new graphics card. If it is integrated graphics, then the upgrade will help boost your fps about 30-40.

A link to the card:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814139166
Memory: anywhere between $100 and $41

u can get every graphics card model, in agp pci and pci-e, so dont worry about models, i am getting a pci-e x800 256, for 150 pounds, so if ure willing to pay 150 pounds in dollars, the x800 is a very good buy.

better off getting another mobo that has an agp slot(that supports 8x agp!!) and then u got a much bigger range of cards to choose from, and u can get a decent card that holds 125fps for around £50 easy..if ur budget is 150(pounds) then i'd definately upgrade mobo and get new card :P
